I suffered a running injury, and was at my wits end on how to fix it. Diverge found the source of my injury which served as a source of enlightenment on how to move forward with a problem I nearly gave up on. For over a year I was trying to take care of an issue that myself and previous physical therapists thought stemmed from my calves. After just ONE session with Matt I was able to understand that my frustration and problems came from my feet. With an actual understanding of what was going on we were able to work together to treat and most importantly understand what me issue was. What once was frustration and confusion on 'nothing working' quickly became a plan of action. For the first time in over a year I've been running pain free and experiencing what real treatment can look like.
Diverge finds the source, fixes the problem, relates to my level, and delivers workouts and treatment that I can understand and follow outside of their supervision.
As a runner, it couldn't be more freeing to see a path forward.

Before I jump into expressing my immense gratitude for the amazing PT that is Dr. Matt Longfellow, I want to share some history on why I needed to visit a PT in the first place.
Ever since I was a kid I wanted to be a professional soccer player, and I worked my hardest at it. I managed to play through all levels of school, as well as club. I was able to skip college and begin playing semi-professional soccer at a young age, where I was performing well. All was good until disaster struck. I started to have some low back pain that was tolerable. As I pushed through the pain, I began to find it getting worse and worse. Months went by and I started to have some serious nerve pain that went from my low back all the way to the top of my foot that was extremely restrictive. There was a point where I struggled with severe pain when kicking my left leg in front of me.
At this point, I halted all play and sought help with a chiropractor. They told me it would likely be a year or more for a healthy recovery. They also recommended I do acupuncture and muscle stimulation treatment as well. All the treatments helped, but not to the extent that I felt I would play happily again. I continued this for about a 10-12 months.
Some time had gone by and I wanted to do something different, so I started looking for a PT to see if they could help me. I found Matt through a search online, as he was so highly recommended. My first appointment I had low expectations, as I was discouraged with my injury at the time. He was very welcoming, he jumped right in to asking me some questions. He asked me to touch my toes (which I was only able to get to about 12 inches from the ground, which was normal with my pain). Then he had me do a couple exercises, and said try touching your toes again, he had turned that 12 inches into about 4-6 inches. I was amazed! I couldn’t believe it. Needless to say, I signed up for a program with Matt that same appointment.
It has been about 6 months since I started working with Matt and I am feeling like a new man! I’m playing soccer again pain free, all the thanks to Dr. Matt. If you need a genius PT that is going to give his absolute best, call Matt, he can help you out!

I started working with Matt at Diverge because I was having constant back pain that was both keeping me up at night and making it difficult to enjoy my hobbies (weightlifting and disc golf). I tried the rest/recovery method many times, but had no success. After about a year or so of consistent pain, I reached out to Matt at the recommendation of a friend. I was 30 at the time and truthfully had started to think my back pain was going to be with me for life. After thoroughly explaining what was causing my pain, Matt was able to calm my nerves and give me actionable steps to improve/fix the problem. After just a few sessions I started to see improvement. If you're not sure if this is a fit for you, just start with the free consultation. I ended up going with a package deal of 8 sessions over the course of a few months. I'm now at the end of the package and adding on a few additional sessions because I enjoy working with Matt and am utilizing his knowledge to improve other problem areas. If you're willing to put in the work to improve your physical health, Diverge is the place to go!

Fellow healthcare provider, been seeing Matt for almost a month now due to back pain, neck pain. I’d seen at least 5 different providers in the last 4.5 years and was looking for someone to take treatment from a different route. He’s evaluated symptoms from a different perspective than anyone I’ve worked with before and has made things very practical along the way. I’ve found that working with Matt, I’ve been making far more progress than I’ve ever made. I’m getting substantial relief of my symptoms and that was within 2 sessions. We’re still in the early phases but I’m very excited to see where things will go and feeling so much optimism about what’s to come after feeling after years of pain that I would be living in pain permanently let alone ever working out consistently. He’s also very responsive whenever questions come up about the exercises. As a provider, I would definitely recommend him to anyone dealing with pains, willing to take a different route from conventional physical therapy clinics, and wanting a comprehensive plan of care.

Before I started working with Dr. Matt I was struggling to get back into a workout routine. I’d go and do a class workout then have crippling back pain the next two-three days. I enjoy working out and did not want this to be my norm for the foreseeable future. Dr. Matt was recommended to me by a colleague that has worked with him in the past. I am a physical therapist assistant and have worked in the industry for 5 years and was doing the typical things I learned from working with other PTs to no long term avail. I followed Dr. Matt on Instagram to learn a little about him and see if he was going to prescribe me the same that I was currently doing. Upon starting with him it took me a few sessions but I started getting some more lasting relief and was not having to think about every move I was going to make to see how I can perform it with minimal pain. I learned a great deal about back pain and the tension our bodies hold from out day to day along with how a few simple breathing exercises performed daily will decrease tension in my body and back. I have adapted some of his techniques and have been using it with my patients and having good success. Working with Dr. Matt has been a great experience and I’d recommend him to anyone.

I've spent the lat 6 months working at Diverge with Matt. As it regards my physical health, easily the best decision I've made in the last year. Matt is incredibly knowledgeable and thoughtful with his approach to recovery, and has given me the tools I need to maintain mobility moving forward. Can't recommend enough.

I started working with Matt in December after doing standard physical therapy for years for running injuries. I was frustrated that my injuries kept coming back and that the exercises that I was given were always the same. Within the first appointment, I could tell that Matt had a different approach than any other physical therapist or doctor that I’ve worked with. He has given me exercises that build on each other during each session that have changed the way that I run. He is very open to questions and explains the meaning behind each new exercise and how it affects the body. He also never asked me to stop running during this process which was important to me. I was able to increase my running mileage to 75 miles a week and finished my recent ultramarathon completely injury free thanks to Matt! I highly recommend Matt and Diverge PT to anyone who is experiencing pain and wants to run or workout injury free!

I have had knee problems on and off for about 5 years. I've seen other physical therapists who were fine and were able to get me back to being mobile. I thought that was great until I started working with Matt at Diverge Performance Therapy.
Just about a year ago my right knee went out, I saw the orthopedist and he treated me first with a cortisone shot and then some kind of gel shot. Neither worked and he was recommending a knee replacement. I decided I wanted to give PT another try and was extremely fortunate to come across Diverge Performance Therapy's website.
So, about three months after the initial injury and the ineffective medical treatments I started working with Matt Longfellow. I noticed a difference in his method immediately. Instead of just concentrating on my knee he took an holistic approach and studied how my whole body moved. After just a few weeks I experience significant improvement and now, after completing the full course of treatment, my knees haven't felt this good in many years.
I highly recommend Diverge Performance Therapy and Matt.
